“The Contagious Dignity Of A Pacesetter”

...This preceding paragraph is an excerpt of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s powerful words penned in his “Letter From a Birmingham Jail.” On January 16, 2012, this country, and in fact, the rest of the world, will again salute Dr. King as an American hero. King was a pacesetter because he personified “obeying God rather than man.” The Black Church Page would like to take this opportunity to remind the African-American church that no other community should celebrate D

Newt Gingrich Defends His Views Before Unlikely Audience, A Black Church

The Republican presidential candidate stood at the pulpit at Jones Memorial AME Zion Church, but, unlike most campaign stops in South Carolina, he was not preaching to the choir.
Newt Gingrich, who routinely ridicules the first black leader of the United States as "the food-stamp president," calmly and patiently explained his conservative views to about 80 people who half-filled the pews, a few more than half of them African American.

First, though, I want to commend the show for having the courage to address this controversial issue with both reason and passion.
Former NFL quarterback, and African-American, Kordell Stewart offered a closing, choked-up plea for black quarterbacks to be given some of the same chances that a media-darling, but inconsistent quarterback, like Tim Teb
